We’ve whipped up a special treat—a literary reading in which food is the key ingredient. Participants include writers Paulette Licitra and Peter Selgin of the Bronx, publisher and editors of the new biannual journal, Alimentum; Amy Halloran of Troy, whose work appears in Alimentum; and Mary Tabor of Washington, DC, whose story collection, The Woman Who Never Cooked, was just published by Mid-List Press, who gave it their First Series Award for Short Fiction.

Tabor, who now teaches creative writing at George Washington University, delayed her own writing career until her children’s tuitions were paid, but an MFA from Ohio State University—and then this book—came fairly quickly once she started. Her work has no relationship to Alimentum, except that it’s what the journal loves to attract—fine writing that explores the infinite roles of food in our lives.

Copies of the journal’s first two issues—and Tabor’s book—will be on sale, and Licitra, who is also a chef, promises refreshment surprises.
