Join us as we celebrate what would have been James Baldwin’s 82nd birthday—on the actual date—and enjoy the work of writers who are still drawing inspiration from his extraordinary work and life. The evening is being coordinated by Brenda Connor-Bey of White Plains and Thomasenia Myers of Yonkers, and they invite published writers to submit Baldwin-inspired pieces to share. Those interested should e-mail info@writerscenter.org or call 914-332-5953 for more information.

We hope to capture some of the energy and talent in the audiences at the James Baldwin reading with Sol Stein and Randall Kenan in September ‘04 and at the more recent reading honoring Zora Neale Hurston, and newcomers are very welcome as well. The evening will include Baldwin books to buy—and birthday cake, of course.

Suggested Donation: $5 ($3 for HVWC members and those under age 18)
