The
Hudson Valley Writers' Center presents a reading with
Brenda
Connor-Bey
and
her students
Brenda Connor-Bey has been teaching a very successful HVWC class for students ages 11 - 14 for over a year. At this reading, both Connor-Bey and some of her students will share their work in poetry and prose. Connor-Bey, the 2002 recipient of the Outstanding Arts Educator award from the Westchester Fund for Women and Girls, has long been active in writer-residency programs throughout the region. She is the recipient of many grants and awards (including four PEN awards) and has had her work published and performed widely. A collection of poetry and fiction, Thoughts of an Everyday Woman: An Unfinished Urban Folktale, was published in 1995 by Blind Beggar Press, and she has recently completed a chapbook, Spirit Seeker. She has almost completed a young adult novel, Adventures in the Land of Purple, and she is working on a novel, The House on Blackwell Lane. Middle
