photo: Denise DuhamelDenise Duhamel was born in Rhode Island and lived for years in NYC, but she now lives in the Miami area with her husband, poet Nick Carbo, and teaches poetry at Florida International University. She has published numerous chapbooks and poetry collections, including a popular chapbook about Barbie (and Ken) titled Kinky, and her two 2005 books, Two and Two (University of Pittsburgh Press) and Mille et Un Sentiments (Firewheel Editions). She won an NEA Fellowship, and has been anthologized in more than fifty volumes, including four volumes of The Best American Poetry.

photo: Virgil SuarezVirgil Suarez was born in Havana, Cuba, and now divides his time between Key Biscayne (Miami) and Tallahassee, where he lives with his family and teaches writing at Florida State University. He is the author of over 15 books of poetry and prose, and just this year he published 90 Miles: Selected and New Poems (University of Pittsburgh Press). He is at work on a new novel. He too won an NEA Fellowship and he was in the 2004 Best American Poetry.

Both poets are known not only for their imaginative and passionate work but for their enthusiastic support of other writers.

 

All readings include a question & answer period and a reception with books by the author(s) for sale.
