The Ties
That Bind: A Family Series
|
Singer/songwriters John and Vicky Forster of South Nyack, NY, present a concert of funny and moving songs for family audiences on Sunday, April 7, at 2 pm. Their performance will mine the wealth of material they have created in 25 years of writing, producing, and directing music for young people. John Forster, a two-time Grammy nominee and Rounder Records recording artist, is best known for his CDs of pointed satirical songs (Entering Marion, Helium, and The Official Bootleg Album) as well as his writing for the musical theatre. But he has also written and produced 9 award-winning albums with Tom Chapin, including Family Tree and This Pretty Planet as well as CDs and videos for such artists as the Olsen Twins and Rosenshontz. He is also the author and composer of numerous plays, including the perennial How to Eat Like a Child. Vicky Forster currently directs young people's drama at The Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center in Nyack and teaches at the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck. For over a decade she ran the young people's drama program at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. As a singer she has recorded extensively with artists ranging from Frank Zappa to the Cabbage Patch Kids. |
