Music is always a large part of the oral tradition in Latin America, even more so than here, and the holidays are no exception. Join us as we look at some of the special traditions of Christmas in various Latin American countries, and enjoy a performance of Puerto Rican aguinaldos (Christmas carols and secular songs) by Sergio Ortiz and his orquesta, Conjunto Cundiamor. Ortiz is one of the most faithful representatives of this traditional music and he knows how to have fun. He'll no doubt have you on your feet, joining in the parranda (house-to-house revel that grows as it goes). Bring the kids! Free. Refreshments served. |
