The Hudson Valley Writers’ Center, in conjunction with Historic Hudson Valley, is delighted to announce the return of celebrated actor and comedian Robert Klein to Sunnyside on Wednesday, October 19 for an evening of scary tales. Klein will read chilling stories in his unique style of storytelling on the spooky, nighttime grounds of Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving, author of the quintessential Halloween tale – The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Daring visitors can arrive at Sunnyside at 6 pm for a tour of Irving’s candle-lit cottage and a wine and cheese reception, followed by Klein’s presentation in the covered courtyard at 7:30 pm. These marvelous tales can be scary, and are not recommended for children under eight years of age. Reservations are required. Admission for the event is $20 per person, $18 for members of Historic Hudson Valley and the Writers’ Center. Call 914-631-8200, ext. 618 for reservations and information or go to www.hudsonvalley.org. Klein, a Bronx-native and Yale Drama School graduate, has spent more than thirty years entertaining his fans through comedy, Broadway, television and film. He’s best known for his initial success with stand-up, including numerous live concerts on HBO; a Tony-nominated performance in “They’re Playing Our Song”; guest appearances on “Frasier,” “Law and Order,” and “The King of Queens”; and starring roles in “Hooper,” with Burt Reynolds, “The Owl and the Pussycat” with Barbra Streisand and most recently in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” with Kate Hudson. Last June he published a very amusing and thoughtful memoir of his pre-fame years, The Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue: A Child of the Fifties Looks Back (Touchstone), which has been a popular and critical success. Copies will be available for purchase and signing by Klein. Sunnyside is located in Tarrytown, New York, one mile south of the Tappan Zee Bridge on Route 9 (turn west on West Sunnyside Lane). Reservations: 914-631-8200 ext. 618
