photo: Joanna ScottJoanna Scott’s novels are astonishingly beautiful, subtle, profound, and unlike those of any other writer I know. She sets a standard for the rest of us...” said Michael Cunningham (The Hours) of this Rochester, NY writer’s work. Another novelist, David Foster Wallace (Infinite Jest) has called her “the absolute cream of our generation.” No wonder she’s a book club favorite.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to meet Ms. Scott in our intimate space and listen to her read from her recent novel, Tourmaline, in which a family’s romantic adventures on the secluded Italian island of Elba turn into mystery and then into magic and revelation.

Scott has written four other novels, including Make Believe and the 1997 Pulitzer Prize finalist, The Manikin. Her short story collection, Various Antidotes, was a finalist for the 1995 PEN/Faulkner Award and she has received a MacArthur Fellowship and a Lannan Award.
