HER WRITERS’ GROUP CELEBRATES NINA’S NEW BOOK

photo: Nina ShengoldIt’s a reading but it’s also a party, and the guest list includes people you’ll love to party with. Nina Shengold’s just-published novel, Clearcut (Anchor Books), takes place in the Pacific Northwest, but her writers’ group is based in the southern Catskills. Laura Shaine Cunningham will introduce some of the others (John Bowers, Da Chen, Ron Nyswaner, Zachary Sklar, Mary Louise Wilson) as they provide “reading hors d’oeuvres” before Shengold reads from Clearcut.

Amy Bloom called Clearcut, “A beautiful. romantic, alive book.” Kirkus Review called it “Erotically atmospheric...A nouveau hippie tale with boldness and spunk.” Whatever it is, Shengold thanks her group’s support and feedback for helping make it possible.

Shengold is the artistic director of the theatre company Actors & Writers that performs in Olivebridge, and she is the books editor for the Hudson Valley arts and culture monthly Chronogram. She is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, editor, and journalist. She won the Writers Guild Award and a GLAAD Award nomination for her teleplay Labor of Love, starring Marcia Gay Harden, and her play Homesteaders won the ABC Playwright Award and the L. A. Weekly Award. With Eric Lane she has edited six theatre anthologies for Vintage Books. All this and now a novel. Help her celebrate!
