The
Ties That Bind: A Family Series
photo:McGuire Our space is small, but Robin and Linda thought it would be fun to add an old railroad station to their Northeast tour and to focus on songs about trains. And they have written and recorded some of the best, including Linda's touching "Leavin' Train." So somehow we will squeeze in them, Their Fine Group (the first-rate Jim Watson on bass and Kevin Maul on dobro), and YOU, and celebrate - literally! - the "ties that bind." For listeners of NPR's "Prairie Home Companion," Robin and Linda are old friends. Host Garrison Keillor says "(they) have a sort of kryptonite bond with the audience so that nothing can come between them and us...Individually, their voices can melt cheese, and in duet, they can do all purpose welding." But it's not just their music that binds us to them. We agree with Billboard Magazine that says, "Underlying their sound are lyrics that pluck at the nerve center of emotional experiences." How perfect for a Writers' Center! Don't miss this rare event. |
