Yan Li

Yan Li was part of the famous Stars Movement which brought contemporary art to China during the politically relaxed Xiaoping’s rule after Mao. A painter before he became a poet, he has had numerous exhibitions of his art work in New York and Chinese galleries over the last 30 years. His oil painting, Resting Farmer, was collected by the Asia Modern Museum of Fukuoka, Japan. Mr. Li has published a number of books of fiction and poetry including Spinning Polyhedral Mirror, The Highest Funeral, Drunken Story, and Selected Poems by Yan Li. He is the editor of First Line, a quarterly poetry magazine established in New York in 1987. He has read in various venues around the world including the Readers Club of Literature & Art Press, Shanghai, China; Reed College, Portland, Oregon; Harvard Yenching Library, Cambridge, Massachusetts; The Knitting Factory, New York City; and the Nuyorican Poets Café in New York City, with Allen Ginsberg. $3 Donation Requested |
