True To Yourself Here’s
a reading with practical advice and plenty of inspiration for all writers, even
those of us who don’t write professionally. On Writing Well, which William
Zinsser wrote in 1976 has sold more than a million copies, and his books about
memoirs, most recently Writing About Your Life: A Journey into the Past
(Marlowe & Co., 2004), have only added to his fame as a guiding light and a man
you would clearly love to know. All in all this fourth generation New Yorker has
written a total of 17 books, and he has also been an editor (New York Herald
Tribune and Book-of-the- Month Club), columnist (Life), and teacher
(Branford, Yale, New School).
He
will be introduced by novelist Ben Cheever of Pleasantville. "Opening"
for Zinsser will be Catherine Wald of Shrub Oak, editor of The Resilient
Writer: Tales of Triumph and Rejection by 20 Top Authors (Persea Books, 2005).
Of the many fine writers she interviewed (including Wally Lamb, Esmeralda Santiago,
and Amy Tan) Zinsser was a favorite. Wald maintains an engaging website, www.rejectioncollection.com
and her articles about writing have been published widely (The New York Times,
Poets & Writers, Writer’s Digest, etc.).
All
readings include a question & answer period and a reception with books by the
author(s) for sale. |
