WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.
Paying with Plays (5 day spring break camp for students in Grades 4-7)
April 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm$200.00
Playing with Plays
April 3-8, 2023
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Discover the tools and develop the skills it takes to write your own play! We will watch and read excerpts from published plays and understand the methods in which playwrights work. Focal points will include character motivations, significance of props, setting as a character, scene structure, and understanding performance. Through generative prompts and group games, students will pinpoint topics and themes to incorporate in their own original script.
We will offer this morning session from April 3-8.
Students are encouraged to bring a lunch and register for the afternoon session of Comedy Improv too! (A $25 refund will be issued back to purchasers of both sessions.)
This session will take place in person at HVWC. Our historic station house is located in Philipse Manor / Sleepy Hollow, NY.
