“Living the Poet’s Life: A Generative Poetry Workshop, and More”
It’s one thing—a marvelous thing!—to write a poem, but how do you keep writing poems? How do you sustain that energy and engagement? In this update of a popular workshop, learn practical tips for living your most productive poetry life. Expect to generate surprising new poems based on distinctive and counter-intuitive writing prompts.
NB: This class will be taught on Zoom and capped at 20. Link will be sent to email you use to register at the time of registration and again the day before the class. Please make sure to read our course policies page regarding workshop conduct and logistics before registering for any class at HVWC. Scholarship information will be available for this class on November 15th and applications are due on December 15th, 2022.
Suzanne Cleary is the author of four full-length poetry collections, the most recent being Crude Angel (BkMk Press 2018) and Beauty Mark (BkMk 2013), which won the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry, the Nassar Poetry Prize, and the Paterson Award for Literary Excellence. Recipient of a Pushcart Prize and the Cecil Hemley Award of the Poetry Society of America, in 2017 she won the Troubadour International Poetry Prize (2nd Place) and the Gregory O’Donoghue Prize of the Munster Literature Centre (3rd Place). Her poems appear in anthologies including Best American Poetry and The Forward Book of Poetry 2022, and in journals including Sewanee Review, Atlantic Monthly, and Poetry London. She was one of four finalists chosen by Nick Laird for the 2020 Moth Poetry Prize https://www.themothmagazine.com/a1-page.asp?ID=8466&page=21 She teaches as Core Faculty in the MFA in Creative Writing Program of Converse University.
