WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.
Beyond the Metaverse: Writing as Creative Reception: a generative writing class with Rosebud Ben-Oni via Zoom
July 31 @ 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm$124.00
“I want to believe we can’t see anything/we don’t have a word for.” —“Translations” Kathyrn Nurenberg
How can science and technology shape your writing and unfold the poetic self? In this workshop, we will examine how the very act of writing in the 21st century serves as “creative reception”— that is, how we are (re)defining our connections to reality, each other, artificial intelligence and life outside our planet— and how this kind of imaginative openness can generate new languages that translates our experiences. We will reimagine the many futures possible in the writing process, drawing inspiration from user-friendly essays on AI, robotics and more; student will engage in 3 craft essays of generative, in-class writing with the option to share and exchange ideas. This class is open to writers at all levels of writing; just bring your imagination!
This class is capped at 15 students. It will take place via Zoom. Zoom link instructions will be emailed at the time of registration and again the day of the class. Please check spam filter and email [email protected] with questions. Please read out course policies page before registering for any HVWC class.
Please note: Scholarship information for this class will be available in May. Please see our scholarship page for details.
