WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.

Let Me Say This: A Dolly Parton Poetry Anthology Reading (via Zoom) with editors Dustin Brookshire & Julie E. Bloemeke

February 5 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

Free – $100.00

Let Me Say This: A Dolly Parton Poetry Anthology offers 54 poets’ takes on often-unsung facets of this diamond in a rhinestone world—calling in Dolly’s impeccable comedic timing, her lyric mastery, her business acumen, and her Dollyverse advocacy. These poems remind us to be better and to do better, to subvert Dolly cliché, and they encourage us to weave Dolly metaphor into our own family lore. Within these pages, Dolly takes the stage and the dinner table; readers see the public Dolly of the silver screen and the private Dolly of identity contemplation. Dolly raises praise and question, and she butterflies into our hearts to unabashedly to claim the mantra In Dolly We Trust.

For our celebration of the anthology, we will welcome: Kelli Russell Agodon, Julie E. Bloemeke, Dustin Brookshire, Makalya Gay, Beth Gylys, Collin Kelley, Katie Manning, Isaiah Vianese, & Jennifer Wheelock. Julie and Dustin will introduce the anthology and run a brief Q&A for the audience.

Launching January 19, 2023. Happy Birthday, Dolly!
