WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.

Grief, Loss and Creative Transformation: Writing as Process—Humor Welcome with Karen Finley (SUNDAY CLASS via Zoom)
February 26 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$124.00
Due to the overwhelming response to the Saturday February 25 class, Karen Finley is offering the class again on Sunday February 26.
In this creative writing workshop Finley will create prompts to reflect and process loss, grief and remembrance. Remembering those we loved and lost, reflecting with humor and poetic grace. Sometimes there is a moment of connection, correction, or to be kept at a distance, ambiguity or goodbye to a forgotten self. Ancestors, occasions, and our body embraces emotions and scars of events as fossils. Writing will be a safe space, a sacred bay to process, transform and reimagine possibility. There can be joy and hope in what we discover to cherish with insight, while awakening our creative practice. This is not a therapeutic model but rather a hallowed tradition, encircling the ancient ways of artists as magicians, consecrating living truths, mysteries, circumstance and celebration. Join our collective. Introverts encouraged. New and returning creatives welcome.
NB: This class will be taught on Zoom and will be capped at 20 students. Registrants will receive the Zoom link to the email address they use to register. It will arrive immediately after registration so please check your spam folder if you do not receive it. It will also be sent the day before class as a reminder. Please review the course policies page before registering for any classes. Please email ask @writerscenter.org with any questions.
