WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.

Exploring New Poems with Amy Holman (via Zoom)

March 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$267.00 – $320.00

This class is to inspire and support poets who want to return to writing, try new ideas, and refine their voices, whether for their own pleasure or to share with the public through readings and publication. It is open to beginning and emerging poets. The new poems in this class are both those you will write and those we will read from literary journals and contemporary poetry books. Amy Holman will offer any interested students suggestions for publication of their new poems at the end of the six week session, although interest in publication is neither the focus nor a requirement for taking this class.

NB: This class will be taught on Zoom and capped at 12 students. It will take place for six consecutive Tuesdays. The link will be sent to the email you use to register as soon as you enroll and the day before class. If you don’t receive the link, please check your spam folder. Please email [email protected] with any questions and make sure to read the Course Policies page before you sign up for any of our classes.

Amy Holman is a poet and literary consultant. She has five poetry books published including the collection, Wrens Fly Through This Opened Window (Somondoco Press, 2010) and the prizewinning chapbook, Wait for Me, I’m Gone, from Dream Horse Press. Her poems and essays are published in print and online journals, and such anthologies as The Best American Poetry and The Subway Chronicles, as well as a few stories scattered in journals over the years. She is writing a series of publishing workbooks, starting with poetry and fiction, to be published in 2023. Recent publications include Club Plum (flash), The Ekphrastic Review, The Lake, The Night Heron Barks, and Nixes Mate.
