WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.
Workshops – This category encompasses all one-day and multi-week classes, whether in person or via Zoom.
Readings – Our readings are in many different genres and take place in person, on Zoom, or both!
HVWC Recurring Events – This category encompasses such regular favorites as Open Mic, Open Write, and Submission Sunday.
Special Events – These other creative experiences are sure to interest our creative community!
Please note that this workshop is now sold out! Thanks for all the interest. If you want to be put on the waiting list for this workshop, or have questions about other memoir workshop options, please email [email protected]
Are you inspired to record the transforming events of your life? Are you drawn to explore the circumstances surrounding your most vivid memories? For those with a work-in-progress or those starting fresh, this class offers a supportive environment wherein each week you will read your writing aloud and receive constructive feedback from the instructor and the other students. Writing takes place during the week, not in class, where the focus is on sharing and critique. Writers at all levels of accomplishment, and with projects both full-length and short-form, are welcome.
This is a 7-week class meeting online via ZOOM Wednesdays 3 – 5pm on 5/17, 5/24, 5/31, 6/7, 6/14, 6/21, 6/28. (If the Covid landscape changes to allow the class to take place hybrid in form, we will be in touch. Hybrid class would remain on Zoom but the instructor would log in to Zoom while in person at HVWC, along with any students inclined to attend in person at HVWC. The holding of the class in hybrid form would not change the timing or format of the class series in any way. In person students would be asked to show proof of vaccination status in advance as well as comply with any other restrictions in place at the time.)
There will be 7 seats available at $374 apiece. Returning students to the memoir series will have preference to register first on Monday, April 10. Registration for any remaining open spots will begin on Thursday, April 13. Please email [email protected] to be put on Susan Hodara’s memoir e-mail list or with questions about our memoir offerings.
