WELCOME TO THE HVWC CALENDAR: home of all our upcoming readings, events and workshops. You can view by list or calendar (see right menu to choose). Click the colored tabs below to show only specific options. Our workshops run as multi-session series or one-day “intensives.” Note, we list the multi-session courses on the first day they meet only. The full dates of the session are described in the course descriptions. You would need to scroll back to the start date if you needed to enroll for something already underway. But do let us know if you want to join something in midstream since we need the blessing of the instructor. Questions? Email us.

Monday Night Poetry Workshop with Silvina López Medin via Zoom

August 17 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$250

Over the course of this workshop we will read poems by key figures in Latin American twentieth century poetry: Susana Thénon, Amanda Berenguer, Ana Cristina Cesar, Rosario Castellanos. We will observe the formal elements of each poet’s work, and pay attention to which aspects resonate with the participants as they generate their own writing. The workshop aims to build a shared space that encourages the reading of poets not often included on course syllabi, exploring their trajectories from the tip of the pencil to the line on the page, to consider what sets our writing in motion, how our poems move from first to last line, what tools might help us keep our creative processes going.

NB: This class will be taught via Zoom and is capped at 12. This class will meet four times. No class on Monday September 7th.
