Jared Harél is the author of Let Our Bodies Change the Subject, selected by Kwame Dawes as the Winner of the 2022 Raz/Shumaker Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry (forthcoming from University of Nebraska Press, September 2023) and Go Because I Love You (Diode Editions, 2018). He’s been awarded the ‘Stanley Kunitz Memorial Prize’ from American Poetry Review, as well as the ‘William Matthews Poetry Prize’ from Asheville Poetry Review. Jared’s poems have recently appeared in such journals as 32 Poems, Beloit Poetry Journal, Harvard Review Online, Ploughshares, Poem-a-Day, The Southern Review and The Sun. Nicole Callihan writes poems, stories, and essays. Her work has appeared, or is forthcoming in, among others, American Poetry Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Tin House, Copper Nickel, Kenyon Review, and as a Poem-a-Day feature from the Academy of American Poets. Her books include the 2012 nonfiction Henry River Mill Village which she wrote with Ruby Young Kellar and which documented the rise and fall of a tiny mill village turned ghost town in North Carolina, as well as, SuperLoop, a collection of poems published in early 2014. In 2015, she received, with Zoë Ryder White, the Baltic Writing Residency Chapbook Contest Award for their chapbook A Study in Spring which was released by Rabbit Catastrophe Press in fall 2015. Her book, The Deeply Flawed Human, was released by Deadly Chaps Press in summer 2016; in summer 2017, Finishing Line Press published Downtown; in Spring, 2018 Aging was released by YES Poetry, and, in summer 2018, Translucence, a dual-language, cross-culture collaboration with Palestinian poet Samar Jaber Abdel was published by Indolent Books. The Couples, her novella, was published in summer 2019 from Mason Jar Press. Her latest project, ELSEWHERE, another collaboration with Zoë Ryder White, won the 2019 Sixth Finch Chapbook Prize and was released in spring 2020. In September 2020, Nicole was diagnosed with Stage II bilateral breast cancer and subsequently underwent a double mastectomy, four follow-up surgeries, and radiation therapy. Her latest book, THIS STRANGE GARMENT (Terrapin, 2023), navigates that diagnosis and treatment. Nicole taught in New York University’s Expository Writing for twenty years and now hosts both informal and formal online poetry gatherings. A frequent collaborator with artists and actors around the world, her work has been translated into Russian, Spanish, German, and Arabic.
Sean Thomas Dougherty is the author or editor of twenty books, including Death Prefers the Minor Keys (September 2023, BOA Editions) and The Dead Are Everywhere Telling Us Things, winner of the 2021 Jacar Press Full Length book contest, selected by Nickole Brown and Jessica Jacobs. Other books include All You Ask for is Longing: New and Selected Poems (BOA Editions 2014) and Double Kiss: Stories, Poems, Essays on the Art of Billiards(Mammoth Books 2017). His awards include a Fulbright Lectureship to the Balkans and an appearance in Best American Poetry. Known for his dynamic readings, he has performed at hundreds of venues, universities, and festivals including the Dodge Poetry Festival, the Old Dominion Literary Festival, and a tour across Albania and Macedonia sponsored by the US State Department.
