Teaching Artist Interns
The Hudson Valley Writers Center’s Writers Express Teaching Artist Internship Program is a comprehensive paid training for emerging writers studying Creative Writing or an arts-related field at a Westchester-based University. Pairs of Teaching Artist Interns lead weekly 1.5 hour creative writing after school sessions for middle school students at the White Plains Middle School. This paid professional development opportunity aids Interns in generating income in the arts post-graduation by offering interactive, in-person experience facilitating a youth program and sufficient experience to submit proposals to nonprofits nationwide.
Nick Rampulla
Spring 2026
Nick Rampulla attended SUNY Purchase, concentrating on screenwriting. He’s helped write and create several short films and a school-wide miniseries. Alongside his deep appreciation for screenwriting, Nick also works with mediums such as plays, short stories, poems, oil/acrylic paints, and charcoal drawings. He’s happy to collaborate and create with up-and-coming writers.

My name is Brodie Beach, I am from Kansas. I majored in screenwriting/playwriting at SUNY Purchase. I love movies, sports, books, and hiking. Some of my favorite films are Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, and Rango.
Rinn Kress

Rinn Kress (she/her) is an artist and a storyteller from Buffalo, New York, and a Creative Writing student at SUNY Purchase. She writes because it’s the best way she can think of to let her characters speak. Her work often centers the deeply psychological and interpersonal, but she
appreciates any story that grapples with the human condition. She can usually be found listening to music, skateboarding or playing Dungeons & Dragons.
Emma Ivanov

Emma Ivanov is a Creative Writing and English and Global Literature Studies student at SUNY Purchase. She is studying both fiction and poetry for her degree, and has a healthy love of both. She wants to someday be a published author, and maybe a professor.
Sammie Terpening
Spring 2025
Sammie Terpening (they/them) is a poet and musician from Staten Island, New York who hopes to be a professor in the future. They write poetry about the world around them and their place in it, taking inspiration from the dadaist movement and authors like John Ashbury, as well as modern poets like Patricia Smith and Richard Siken. When they aren't writing poetry, they're writing music in various genres, or they're watching video essays on youtube.
Zoey Hawkins

Zoey Hawkins (she/her) is a writer and filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. She writes poetry and fiction and is greatly inspired by writers like Toni Morrison, Jericho Brown, and Sally Rooney. She is the type of reader who categorizes the genre she reads according to the season; however, she reads romance at any time of year. She has three cats and loves to listen to music and is looking forward to starting her first novella this year.

Hello! My name is Madeline Raymondi but my nickname is Maddie, pronouns are she/her/hers. I am currently a student at SUNY Purchase where I am majoring in Screenwriting & Playwriting with a minor in Psychology. I come from a family of five and I am a middle child. I am also a proud Peruvian-American who hopes to be one of the first professional Peruvian-American screenwriters in the United States.

Hello! I’m Jasmine, a creative writing major from SUNY Purchase. I, of course, love writing and consider it my passion. I mainly write prose but I do enjoy poetry, playwriting, and the occasional screenwriting. I’m also a big reader. If I’m not giggling over a cheesy romance then I’m probably studying a literary classic. I’m so excited and humbled to co-lead the Writers Express program and meet the next generation of young writers! I’ll see you then!
