Crafting the Cover Letter with Diane Goettel (Zoom)

Before an editor reads page one of your manuscript, your cover letter makes a first impression. Diane Goettel, Executive Editor of Black Lawrence Press, reads thousands of cover letters every year--and she wants to help you get yours right. In this session, we'll discuss what to include, what to leave out, and how to get an editor's attention while also striking the right tone. We'll also review a handful of actual cover letters that, along with strong manuscripts, led to a publishing deal.

Diane Goettel is the Executive Editor of Black Lawrence Press. Her writing has recently appeared in Club Plum, Ethel, Border Crossings, Grimoire, and The Laurel Review. She lives in Mt. Vernon, New York with her family.
