About the event
Erasure poetry starts with a text that already exists, such as a letter, a news article, a legal form, or a page from a book, and finds the poem hiding inside it. In this 2-hour Zoom intensive, we'll explore how erasure can carry both personal and political weight through three techniques: erasure, blackout, and palimpsest. Through guided exercises, you'll try each one on a range of source texts and leave with at least three draft poems. No prior experience with erasure is needed, and all levels are welcome.
