Let’s Make Some Zines! An Adult Workshop with Erwin Ong (In-Person at HVWC)

Zines have long given writers and artists a way to share their stories and ideas on their own terms. In this two-hour, hands-on workshop, we'll revisit the DIY spirit of zine-making and explore how words and images can come together in unexpected ways.

We'll start with a brief look at zine history, explore examples and different formats, and learn how to turn a single sheet of paper into an eight-page booklet.

Then the studio is yours! Bring a story, a poem, a collection of thoughts, or an idea you've been wanting to explore. Experiment with collage, drawing, stamping, lettering, and other analog techniques as you create your own zine. You'll have plenty of time to play with materials, make copies of your work, and share or exchange your creations with fellow participants.

Whether you're revisiting the cut-and-paste days of independent publishing or trying zine-making for the first time, come enjoy…
