Altman Person of Color Scholarship

The Hudson Valley Writers Center is dedicated to supporting the voices of writers of color. We encourage all writers of color based in the U.S. to apply for a scholarship to courses they feel will advance their writing practice and enrich their experience. Scholarships are awarded based on the funding available and strength of application. Applicants are invited to apply for scholarships up to four times a year.

Please note that not receiving a scholarship for a particular course does not impact future applications for alternative courses.

Applications for Fall 2021 programming are now closed. Winter 2022 applications will become available on November 15, 2021.

Need-Based Scholarship

The Hudson Valley Writers Center is committed to expanding access to writers facing financial barriers to writing instruction. Applicants for HVWC’s need-based scholarships must have a current U.S. or U.S. territory resident address. Scholarships are awarded based on the funding available, demonstrated need, and strength of application. Applicants are invited to apply for scholarships up to four times a year.

Please note that not receiving a scholarship for a particular course does not impact future applications for alternative courses.

Applications for Fall 2021 programming are now closed. Winter 2022 applications will become available on November 15, 2021.

Karen Finley Need-Based Scholarship for Women and Non Binary Writers

Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, this scholarship covers the entire registration fee for a one-day intensive taught by Karen Finley for any woman or non-binary writer in need. We encourage all women and non-binary writers based in the U.S. facing financial barriers to writing instruction to apply.

Applications will become available ahead of a programming season in which a Karen Finley intensive is offered.
