About the event
In this fun interactive workshop, participants will dive into the fundamentals of humor writing by using their own experiences to craft a comedic scene. Off-Broadway playwright and comedic script doctor for film, Sarah Congress, will guide participants through the process of identifying comedic potential from everyday situations. From your most uncomfortable public transit moment to that cringe-worthy family gathering, Sarah will show you how to turn the “yucky” moments into comedic gold. The group will vote on an umbrella theme—anything from a seance/reiki shop to a cemetery or even an H&R Block office—and write a short scene inspired by it. Expect to share laughs, gain valuable writing tips, and leave with the tools to bring humor into any writing project.
