SYNOPSIS
¡Arsenio! is a tribute to the life and legacy of Arsenio Rodríguez, the blind Afro-Cuban musician who revolutionized son and helped shape the birth of salsa in the Bronx. The play follows Yennifer, a Bronx teenager dreaming of becoming a musician, who procrastinates for her audition at the Bronx Academy of the Arts by scrolling through her phone and video chatting with her mom, a dedicated social worker who always checks in during her evening shifts.
In a surreal twist, a portal opens and the spirit of Arsenio visits Yennifer. Together, they journey through music, navigating both cultural memory and her digital world. Through video projections and live performances, ¡Arsenio! merges tradition with technology, exploring themes of immigration, family, and cultural heritage.
