True Definition: Building Brilliant Poems Starting With Just One Word
If writing and reading poetry helps us more clearly define our worlds, how can leaning into the act of defining helps us write our poems? In this class, we’ll talk about poems that pay close attention to specific words and to the definitions of those words. Reading the work of poets like A. Van Jordan, Robert Hass, Vievee Frances, Danez Smith, Mairead Byrne, and others, we'll consider ways individual words and their definitions can create whole new ways of understanding the world.
