About the event
This course meets Wednesdays from 6:45-8:45 p.m. (ET) on Zoom on April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, and 20.
How do we give thanks in a world on fire, shaped by state-sanctioned violence, ongoing loss, & collective grief? This six-week generative poetry workshop explores gratitude as a necessary poetic practice—one rooted in attention, reciprocity, & witness. Inspired by writers such as Ross Gay, Simone Weil, Robin Wall Kimmerer, & W. S. Merwin, we’ll explore gratitude as a ritual that makes room for pleasure & abundance, honors loss without erasure, & insists that joy is radical. By the end of the course, participants will develop a personal, sustainable gratitude poetics practice through generative exercises: one that can be practiced with honesty & care, even while the world is burning.
