About the event

If you have lost someone unexpectedly, you know that this is a specific kind of grief. In this single session, generative workshop, we will read & write grief poems about loss to suicide, addiction, violence, accidents, etc. How might we convey the distinct grief experiences of sudden loss? How can metaphor, imagery & form convey these experiences in ways that empower poetic voice? By the end of this workshop, writers will have at least 12 new poem drafts/beginnings based on new, original writing prompts inspired by writers like Laura Apol, Jessica Cuello, Danez Smith, Siarra Freeman, K. Iver, Erik Wilbur, Nick Flynn, Crystal Valentine & others.
