Monday Night Poetry with Jane Huffman (via Zoom)

In this six-week workshop, students will share one new or revised poem with the group every week with the goal of developing it further through meaningful close reading, analysis, and conversation. In class, we will practice giving and receiving feedback via Liz Lerman’s “Critical Response Process,” a highly approachable, artist-focused workshop method that the instructor will introduce in the first class session. This method allows each poet to direct their workshop in a way that ensures their artistic priorities and project goals are valued over preconceived notions of “good” and “bad.” There is no theme for this workshop: students are encouraged to submit the work they are most excited about sharing and developing. Students will also be encouraged to submit revisions of previous submissions to the group as they implement feedback, extending the workshop experience beyond a single encounter.
