About the event
How can we work to mend a world that feels broken, or a self that is wounded? In this generative workshop, we will explore how poems record our losses and challenges, our pain and our hurt, while also providing new avenues of resilience. Using examples of classic elegies and contemporary poems on suffering and renewal as inspiration, we will draft poems that begin the process of healing.
BIO
Emily Leithauser’s book of poems, The Borrowed World (2016) won the Able Muse Book Prize. Her poetry has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Poetry International, among other venues. Her translations from French have been published in Literary Imagination and Literary Matters. She is the author of scholarship and creative nonfiction in The Kenyon Review, The Hopkins Review, and The Cut.
