Writing Poems in an Age of AI:
In this workshop, we will consider the dilemma that AI poses to teaching our students to write poems, discuss the ethics of using AI in classrooms, and experiment with AI as we write our own poems to understand how it could aid or limit our students. All writers are welcome, but especially high school teachers who want a supportive class designed to help them in their teaching practices.
BIO
Darren Wood teaches at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, including workshops on poetry. He has a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a M.A.L.S. from The Graduate Center at CUNY, where for his capstone he wrote about the ethics of representation in persona poems as well as a series of persona poems in the voice of residents of the New York Juvenile Asylum (the predecessor to Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry).
