About the event
Zines: Make Your Own Mini Books with Erwin Ong
August 10-14, 2026, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Grades 3-5
In this hands-on workshop, students will discover the world of zines (ZEENS)—small, self-made books that can be about anything they want. Using drawing, writing, and collage, campers will learn how to turn their ideas into zines filled with stories, comics, lists, and more.
Each day, students will be guided through simple, playful prompts—like favorites, daily moments, and short stories—that give them a clear starting point and help them build their zines one page at a time. They’ll explore different kinds of zines, including collections and lists (favorite things, jokes, or foods), personal stories (a day in the life or a special memory), how-to guides, opinion pieces, and creative storytelling through comics or images. Students can also choose to create all-visual zines using drawing or collage.
