The Hudson Valley Writers Center is proud to announce another successful year of Writers Express Youth Summer Camps. In 2025, we offered seven camps, each 1 week long, covering topics such as world building, fiction, playwriting, graphic novels, zines, and more.

We reached our goal of expanding our creative team, and welcomed four new teaching artists this summer with diverse backgrounds in various forms of writing and art. These new instructors became a valuable part of creating well-rounded programming for our campers.

Our program also invited teen volunteers based in Westchester to assist in the camps, which fulfilled their school community service requirements. These teens brought positive attitudes, enthusiasm for the arts, and became buddies with our campers.

We continue to prioritize creating financially accessible programming for our community. For the second year, we offered tiered pricing for our camps so families were able to pay what they could for camps. Over 20% of campers attended on scholarship, equivalent to over $2,000 worth of funding thank you to our generous funders Kids' Club of Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow, Inc. and the Rotary Club of the Tarrytowns, as well as individual donors.

In 2026, we will continue to prioritize offering high quality literary arts programming for youth in Westchester County. Please consider giving a donation to our youth scholarship fund to assist us in fulfilling this goal.
Please join us again this fall for our day off from school camps. More information can be found here.
