Welcome to fall programming at the Hudson Valley Writers Center. Though we always recognize spring as time of renewal and rebirth, I think of fall as a renewal as well—a renewal of routine and tradition. We often renew our commitment to school and work after summer’s long days get shorter. Those planners and backpacks and sports practices are familiar, but we also anticipate new beginnings and set new goals as we cycle towards fall.

Dear HVWC Community, In June 2025, HVWC hosted its first-ever Writing Residency, in partnership with the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the Pocantico Center. Sixteen writers and four award-winning faculty members (Chen Chen, Nick Flynn, Ananda Lima, and Brian Turner) lived and wrote in community for one week on Pocantico’s verdant and historic campus in Tarrytown, NY.
