Dear Friends,
As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to thank you for your support of the Hudson Valley Writers Center this year, and invite you to remember us in your end-of-year giving. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by December 31st, and we need your help!
2025 has been a perilous year for the literary arts. Federal funding cuts at the NEA impacted small presses and writing centers across the United States. The state and county agencies that support HVWC’s work will have less to give in 2026.
Despite the challenging landscape, the Hudson Valley Writers Center achieved these pivotal milestones in 2025:
Launched a week-long Residency that brought writers together from across the country to write in community, with mentorship from an esteemed faculty
Invested in HVWC leadership by appointing a Program Director, Dr. Dominika Wrozynski, and an Executive Director, Beth Whitaker, who will guide HVWC’s vision and operations as it approaches its 40th anniversary
Expanded community outreach with ID Studio Theater, Tarrytown Arts Camp, Children's Village and Rehabilitation Through the Arts
Provided more access to the innovative programs that support writers of diverse ages, talents, and backgrounds
The HVWC Board of Directors has generously pledged a dollar-for-dollar match of the first $15,000 we raise. Act now to double the impact of your tax-deductible gift!
We rely on individual donations like yours to advance our mission to support writers and readers. Will you help us write the next chapter of the Hudson Valley Writers Center? Your gift of any amount will strengthen the Center as a place of belonging and support for the stories and storytellers we need.
Thank you for including the Hudson Valley Writers Center in your end-of-year giving.
With gratitude,
