Open Mic News

Dear HVWC Community,

We are saddened by the passing of William R. Buschel, longtime host of the HVWC Third-Friday Open Mic. Bill was beloved by open mic participants and audience members, making them feel welcome and heard for more than 13 years. He will be deeply missed, and we send our sincere condolences to his loved ones.

Bill’s legacy lives on, however, and we would like all our community members to feel welcome at the Third-Friday open mics, hosted now by Rachel Simon and supported by Cassie Cartaginese. Sign-up slots for performers and audience members can be found here.

We are also excited to premiere The People’s Mic, monthly, beginning March 13 and hosted by Westchester Poet Laureate, Phylisha Villanueva. As Phylisha states, “The People’s Mic is more than an open mic; it’s a community gathering rooted in care, creativity, and connection.” Sign up for a performer or audience slot here.

We would love to see you at both events!
